A Slight Interruption

Here at Chez Sheriff- we are in the midst of a computer overhaul- which includes installing a new server- so what that means is my internet access is limited.

Kitten-Chow and I wish you a wonderful summer- and hope to see you in September.

New Hamburg

On this past Saturday, I had the great privilege of attending a trunk show with the amazing Anne Hansen. I don't use that word about alot of people, but she herself is gracious, and knowledgeable and passionate about her subject, which is lace knitting. Over the past couple of years, she has brought out one gorgeous pattern after another, and there seems to be no end in sight- which is wonderful for those of us who are new to this type of knitting.

This photo is courtesy of Anne Featonby, and the lady on the left is my friend Pat. Anne Hansen is showing us her Autumn Arbor stole, which is incredible. She is wearing her Sprossling sweater, which if I ever drop enough weight, I may be tempted to knit. The trunk show was held in New Hamburg, just west of Kitchener, in an amazing Victorian mansion. If she ever comes to your area- go and be inspired.

On the subject of knitting, I finished a very plain jane Peace Fleece sweater, which is the type of thing I like to have, but not neccessarily to knit- like socks, I like to wear them, but they bore the pants off me.

I am trying to keep busy, and not think of the next 3 months of summer looming before me, like grim death. I began a very large book, which I never really talk about, but I do read alot. And being a very fast reader, this one won't last, but for a 700 page biography, is very entertaining, and explores the influences of the Bloomsbury Group of artists.

Laura is scheduled to have all four wisdom teeth removed on the 15th. I am finally seeing a gastro specialist on Wednesday, and I am planning a small bathroom reno- which I have consulted FC about.

I think that Kitten-Chow is missing his friend. He seems to have turned to comfort eating. I am not going to get him a puppy, this guy is very, shall we say, high maintenance.

The Summer of My Discontent

They are predicting a hot summer this year- and we've had two weeks of heat, and it isn't officially summer yet- oh no's! I have to confess, that when it comes to weather, I am the opposite of most people, and love nothing more than a cold, cloudy winter day. As well as a wonderful storm, with lots of wind. The sun shining every day, well, I can't be doing with it.

And I realize, that because I live in a place that has changing seasons, a full quarter of my life is taken up with heat and humidity- and it makes me nuts. What I really need to do is see the beauty in it- adjust my attitude so to speak. When people say they are looking forward to the summer, I am secretly wishing for October-so my friend suggested I get out my plastic punk pool, and sit outside with my feet in it.

My peony bushes are pretty this year. I have three of these bushes in the back yard.

On Sunday, we went to a small fiber event in Grimsby. We got up close with some of the animals, but it was so hot, I felt bad for them.

The sheep showed us their bums- they were all different colours.

I guess they would have noticed if I tried to bring this little one home- yeah, probably.

On the knitting front, not much happening- so I had better plan some strategies, while I dream of October.

Stay cool, dudes.
