Kitty Schmutz

At long last, Icarus (Icky) is finished- look how pretty:
A close-up of the beaded edging.

The whole enchilada.

Laura graciously modelling for me (as Ginger suffers from a severe lack of extremities)
I think the choice of yarn (The Woolen Rabbit Whisper merino laceweight- Sugar Maple) and the color that looks like fire, goes well with Miriam's theme of Icarus in the flames. All in all, a pleasure from start to finish- though I'm taking no credit here- the designer and the dyer did it all.

Kitty Schmutz- most of you own a cat. I had noticed black marks on some of the corners of my walls- and especially on the stair bannisters. "Left railing has been schmutzed".

My sister (who cleans for a living) pointed out that it was where Kitten-Chow was wiping his mouth as he went by.
I caught him in the act. Now I have to clean the walls and railings about once a week. Not all cats do this. Jewel says her Mia is a schmutzer. Is your cat a schmutzer?

I know, ew!

Gorgeous shawl!!!

Um, Chaos rubs his chin on many things to mark them (May cares nothing for marking), but he doesn't actually leave marks...

That is one of the prettiest Icaruses (Icari?) that I've seen.

None of our current kitties leave kitty schmutz, but our late cat Hannah was the Queen of Schmutz!

Icarus is gorgeous - wow - just beautiful. What an inspiration - I'm pulling mine out right now and working on it. I'm not sure if my cats schmutz...I guess since I don't know, they don't! Unless they are doing it in places I don't notice...

The marking is our way of leaving a little scent and identifying the object as "ours." As versus, yours, the dogs, etc. I’d like to tell you that my hilariously funny book, The World Is Your Litter Box, is in bookstores now and is also available on Amazon. The book is cleverly disguised as a cute cat book so humans will buy it, but is, in fact, a how-to manual FOR cats. Check it out on my website, www.theworldisyourlitterbox.com.

Oh, I love your Icarus! Have you told Miriam? She likes to post links to completed projects of her design on her site. (Or at least I think she does... I know she used to!)

Kitties schmutz. That is a part of what kitties do.

What a nice idea, beading the shawl like that. It's gorgeous. And Tikka does her shmutzing on us.

That was worth the wait. It's gorgeous! The colour and beads really sets it apart from the rest.

Nope, Pennsyl doesn't do such things. Not only does he not wipe his mouth, he doesn't believe in cleaning himself!

I really love your Icarus! I am debating between projects and Icarus may have to make the cut!

Boulder (named so because though he is sweet he's not what you'd call a 'thinker') just pretty much sits around doing nothing but licking the many toes on his Maine Coon paws. His sister, however, rubs herself all over the stairs - weird!

Love your shawl.....and really jealous as I seem to be in some sort of knitting funk wherein the only accomplishments I am celebrating is working over my 'frog' and 'ribbit' technique!

Yup, Atticus being the worst! Nothing a little Magic Eraser can't wipe away in a jiff. I always thought he did it to scratch his chin. Must be a cat dude thing.

I love Icky.

Gorgeous shawl, I love the colour. Bart marks everything ... I am off to check for actual marks now though!

Oh my....what a beautiful Icarus you have made! I love the addition of beads.

No kitties here...only the pooches :)

The shawl looks beautiful! Great colour!

Midnight is a big time schmutzer...the spindles upstairs are dirty....being as I am, here, I don't care. Another house I certainly would. In fact, she is going to leave "donut art" on the walls before we move, if you catch my drift.

I live with 4 of the schmutzer.

If only they would learn how to clean that and the cat box.

Beautiful Icarus! You picked the perfect yarn. I don't know if our kitties schmutz. If they do, it just blends in with all the other schmutz.

Icky is beautiful. The designer and dyer AND knitter have done good work!

Meems is the only one who schmutzes at our house. She schmutzes my toes, my legs, the edges of doors, boxes, chair legs, table legs - you name it. She schmutzes. She does something very smart, though. She'll lick my leg and then schmutz where she's licked. She'll repeat it until she feels her face is clean. Smart girl, huh?

Yes, Browser was a schmutzer! When my Mom figured out it was from his chin, she started wiping his chin daily. He wasn't amused. :)

Love love luv Icky! That Sugar Maple sure is a nice red. Just the right amount of beading too. Great job Lorraine!

Beautiful Icarus! And no kitty schmutz here - just doggie schmutz on the walls where they scratch their sides!

Your Icarus is gorgeous!

Neither of my cats leave schmutz. Alteast not that I've seen. They are really good about hiding things though so I wouldn't be surprised if I have hidden schmutz in my house, lol.

I saw a bunch of Icaruses (Icari?) yesterday when I went to see the Harlot in Philly, but I like yours the best -- the color is the best.

Icky schmutz -- my cats mark with their mouths, but I haven't noticed any yuck left behind. I'm not going to look too close!

WOW! What a color and what a gorgeous
pattern !
At least cat jowl marks are better than the other kind of cat marks!
We had a female that marked... luckily not inside the house!
They're not even supposed to do that, I was told by our vet. Maybe she had estrogen issues???

And where did you find that yarn? Yumm. Since I lost all my favorite places, I am trying to comply a new list. (hint)
