Queen Guenevere
Two posts in two days- this must be some kind of record. But you have to take things as they happen.
Guinevere is finished!
I was looking back in my files, and the yarn was purchased on September 9 of last year. I putzed with the colors (I knew what colors I wanted) and fine tuned the swatches. As I said yesterday, I had alot of doubts along the way. It's sort of like when you read a book, and it's kind of peeving you off- but you decide that you've come this far, you might as well finish, and it turns out to be a great story. Here's my happy ending:
Thanks to Ginger- who has sobered up enough to oblige us- due to "AA for Dummies"- she has remained somewhat sober and vertical.
A jaunty tassel!
Horn toggle closures.
The sizing turns out to be determined by the gauge, so we have 42" and 45"- this is meant to be worn over top of other clothes, so is a loose fit. There is slight shaping at the armholes, but other than that, not even the sleeves are shaped. There is 3-needle I-Cord at the shoulder and along the hood. The you pick up the sleeve stitches and add applied I-Cord. This was alot of fun.
The motifs are slightly larger than I normally use, due to the scale of the garment.
The pattern is written, and Brigitte has graciously consented to be my model- so Thunderbirds are go.
Here's what is left of my brain. Good thing the math was done before this, huh?

Brilliant! Congratulations on another gorgeous pattern.
That Brigitte is so lucky!
Lovely! The whole thing - tassel, motifs, buttons and all - fits together so nicely. Looking forward to seeing her on Brigitte!
Wow! A work of art! ibwubes
I like how unusual this is.... very cool!
Guin looks fantastic! So glad you stuck with it. Congratulations, Lorraine!
Definitely a work of art! I love the pattern, the colors and the cool details. Congrats!
All hail the Queen!
Beautiful!
Lucky Brigitte gets to wear her!
All designed and done in less than a year?! You're amazing!
So, what's next? Fair Isle with beads?! I'll stay tuned! m :)
So, so beautiful. Love the hood.
Wow that is absolutely gorgeous! I love it. I covet it. I need to knit it.
Golly that is lovely. I really like the motifs. The hood is really a wonderful feature. I could use a hood like that nearly every day - here in the windy, rain at anytime land. Great work Lorraine.
How many hanks of yarn did you use (ballpark).
And when do the rest of us get to buy a Fair Isle pattern with a hood?
I really like the tassled hood! Can't wait to see how it looks on Brigitte.
It turned out great!!! Looking forward to the modeled shots. Hopefully it isn't a billion degrees still in Toronto...
Gorgeous! Congrats!
Yeah, I hope it isn't going to be a bazillion degrees in High Park when I model it too! Or no drunks flashing in the background, heh...
Oh wow, it's just the loveliest, I can't wait to start! I'm telling you, I may just take off running when you're not looking...
Impressive! Congratulations. You must be waiting for the weather to cool down so you can wear her out and about.
WOW! That is *so cool*! And I totally love the tassel. I'm a tassel kninda gal. ;)
wow! love the hood and tassle :-)
Thank you very much Lorraine. I am very proud of this sweater indeed. It hardly holds a candle to Guenevere though.
I love the hood!!!! :)
You have been busy! Congratulations -- looks great -- I can't wait to see it on Brigitte.
I think that maybe you should knit something for the new you.......something truly delicious and form fitting to show off your new curves -- what do you think?
Your Guenivierre is awesome, both in design & workmanship! It hangs straight, everything is perfect!
Wow, the most fabulous knitting! I hope my fair isle comes out half as good as that!
